West Virginia's
Motorcycle Education Program
The West Virginia Motorcycle Education Course is now back in operation. Several more
instructors were recently certified, and classes are now in full swing at several
areas throughout the state.
What Is It?
Riding and Street Skills is a complete course of instruction for people of all ages who are interested in developing safe street riding skills. All applicants under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian present on the first day of class to register and sign the necessary permission forms. The course is 20 hours long and training bikes are provided. The course consists of 8 hours of classroom preparation and 12 hours of intensive cycle riding activities which provide firsthand experience in the various maneuvers and demanding situations encountered in street riding.
What is Needed?
In order to take the class, you must have your motorcycle learners permit.
Students must wear protective gear during riding sessions, which includes 3/4 D.O.T. approved helmets, full-fingered gloves, long pants, shirts or jackets with long sleeves, sturdy shoes or boots that cover the ankles and approved eye protection.
All Applicants are required to have a valid West Virginia driver's license and be 16 years of age or older.
Classes are filled by prepaid advance registration on a first-come, first-served basis.
What's the Cost?
Cost - $100.00 per student. Training motorcycles are provided. Payment can even be made by credit card over the phone.
