Restaurants Good Cheap Eats Warm Springs Restaurant - 800 S. Washington Street, Berkeley Springs, WV, (304) 258-1100. (on U.S.
522, in town.) Good and cheap old fashioned family dining. American
favorites from burgers and shakes, to real roast turkey and genuine mashed potatoes.
Personal favorite is the large country friend steak with stewed tomatoes
on the side. You'll think you're dining at grandma's house. Mi Ranchito - 209 N. Washington St., Berkeley Springs, WV, (304) 258-4800. (on U.S. 522, in town.) Authentic Mexican food, done right. Fast, cheap, very good. Come hungry, leave stuffed. Mid-Priced Dining: Panorama at the Peak - Route 9 west of town, at the Scenic Overlook, Berkeley Springs, WV, (304) 258-9847.
The overlook is like biker heaven. Fantastic place to see the
Potomac River, and one of the nicest views you'll ever see. Maryland, Pennsylvania,
and WV, right before your eyes. Sunset from the overlook will
almost make you forget what a great ride it was to get there. Almost. High End Cuisine: Lot 12 Public House - 117 Warren Street, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411, (304) 258-6264. You
could go to the most expensive restaurant in the U.S., but you won't get any better
food than you'll get right here. Elegant but moderately casual, a real
treat if you appreciate really great dining. If your riding partner sat
behind you for miles after miles, while you had all the fun driving, you owe
that person an unforgettable dinner. This is the place, and it's worth the
drive. http://www.lot12.com/ |
Hello. My name is Marion, and I am pleased to be the Morgan County Representative
for West Virginia Bikers. Just to set the record straight, I reside
in Washington, DC. But I spend as much time as I can in Morgan County,
at a weekend house. It's a great place, close to many urban areas, but not
overdeveloped. Riding into Morgan County is like traveling back in time
to when life was slower, people were nicer, and everything was cheaper.
We have Berkeley County to our south, and Hampshire County to our west. One of the largest draws here is Berkeley Springs State Park, right in the center of Berkeley Springs town (aka Bath). Berkeley Springs is the Morgan County seat, and has natural spring water bubbling right out of the ground at the State Park. For a modest price you can get hot mineral baths and massages at the state park, or any number of other private spas in town. Be sure to drink the water! It's been providing its healing powers since before the Revolutionary War. There is a large arts community here, a fantastic restored movie house (about 1/3 the price of a movie in the city, and homemade popcorn too), the best motorcycle dealer I've ever dealt with (Ridersville), lots of wonderful sights to see and activities to do. We're easily accessible via Interstate 70 and 68, just across the Potomac river from Maryland, and chock full of fantastic riding. If you have any specific questions about the area, or if you want to recommend rides, please feel free to send me an E-Mail. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy Morgan County. |
