Hi Folks, I'm Allen, and I'd like to welcome you to Monongalia County the Home of West Virginia University, and some great motorcycle rides and resources. Monongalia County is the intersecting point of I-79 and I-68. If your traveling to or from Pittsburgh PA, Charleston WV, or Cumberland MD you will probably come through Mon County. Mon County is also the home of West Virginia's newest Harley-Davidson dealer, Triple S Harley-Davidson. If you see any omissions or have suggestions or questions, please feel free to email me. Also be sure to let me know of any bike related news to pass along.
Recommended Food Stops:

Archie's - (Decker's Creek Rd) SR 7 West, 1.5 Miles from I-68 Exit 4 (Sabraton). I'll give Archie's the nod as the area's premier biker rest stop. The nice folks here host several rides each year. You will find great food, drink and lots of flat parking. There is also bike-only parking in front.
Rio Grande - SR 7 West, about 1 mile from I-68 Exit 4 (strip mall next to Wendy's). Authentic Mexican food, beer, margaritas, very casual, good prices, lots of flat parking.
Crocket's Lodge - Exit 155 off I-79 toward SR 7, SR 7 West across the river then turn left onto Boyers Ave. Turn right onto University Ave. 0.3 miles to Crockets.
o Wings and beer. The rest of the menu is good too. I just have my favorites.
Buffalo Wild Wings (BW3) 268 High Street Downtown
More Wings and Beer. I'm I making a point here.
Sabraton Area - West on SR7 from I-68 Exit 4
o Near this location there are several fast food businesses. McDonalds, Sheets, Wendy's, Long John Silvers, etc.
Glenmark Center - I-68 Exit 7 (on the hill) across from Triple-S H-D, Ruby Tuesday's, Bob Evans, Outback, Heavenly Ham
Morgantown Mall - I-79 Exit 152, Garfield's (In the Mall), Bob Evans, Burger King.
Winston's Bar and Grill -In the building next to Triple S H-D, I-68 Exit 7. Lots of designated motorcycle parking. Good food and live bands
Same owners as the one in Fairmont.
Night Life:

Archie's - (Decker's Creek Rd) SR 7 West, 1.5 Miles from I-68 Exit 4 (Sabraton). I'll give Archie's the nod as the area's premier biker rest stop. The nice folks here host several rides each year. You will find great food, drink and lots of flat parking. There is also bike-only parking in front.

Morgantown is a college town, so there's no shortage of night spots.. Here a few more:

Mario's Fishbowl - Large frosted fishbowl mugs are the trademark. The walls are covered with notes proclaiming feats of cracker eating, Tabasco shots, beer downing speeds, distances traveled, etc. It's like a combination History and Guinness book. 704 Richwood Avenue. You'll have to find it yourself. I'm not giving directions to my favorite hideaway.
Crocket's Lodge - Exit 155 off I-79 toward SR 7, SR 7 West across the river then turn left onto Boyers Ave. Turn right onto University Ave. 0.3 miles to Crockets.
Buffalo Wild Wings (BW3) 268 High Street Downtown
Chic N Bones, 444 Chestnut Street, (Park in the lot behind Dairy Queen on High Street)
Bent Willey's, 471 Chestnut Street, (Close to Chic N Bones above)

Recommended Rides:

My favorite rides around and out of Mon County usually involve US 119 and SR 7. These are scenic rides on 2 lane road. The roads are usually in good condition. Some recent paving has been done but always watch out for the patch jobs the state likes to do in long strips from the shoulder to about half the lane width. These are motorcycle nightmares.
US 119 from Morgantown south to Grafton, Turn left (East) onto US 50. There are three good return routes. (1) SR 92 at 9.75 miles, connects to SR 7 at Reedsville, (2) SR 26 at 11.8 miles, connects to SR 7 at Kingwood, (3) SR 72 at 21.5 miles connects to SR 7 just west of Kingwood. In all cases follow SR 7 West back to Morgantown. Loop distances (1) = 64 miles, (2) = 76 Miles, (3) = 86 miles.
There's a nice hourglass shaped loop by starting on US 119 South to Grafton, then US 50 East to US 219 at Redhouse MD, South on US 219 to Parsons WV, North on SR 72 back to Kingwood and return by SR 7. (about 125 miles) You can make a couple of modification by including SR 90 or SR 93 between US 50 and US 219. These are great mountaintop roads.
For a short ride take CR 73 south from Morgantown. You can go all the way to Fairmont and back or cut across Goshen Road, Toms Run Road, or Halleck Road all of which go over to US 119.
If you want to head toward the western end of the county, take SR 7 West to Blacksville, then turn left onto SR 218 South. At Fairview, EITHER turn left on CR 17 to Rivesville and US 19 North back to Morgantown, OR continue to US 250 S to Fairmont, then pick up US 19 North back to Morgantown.
Once you get to Blacksville on SR 7 West, you can also continue on SR 7 until you pick up US 250 near Burton. Follow US 250 South back to Fairmont then US 19 North back.
