100th Anniversary of the Triumph Motorcycle

Official Triumph Website
If you've been reading the "Out of the Weeds" series, you know by know that I ride an old Triumph. Not that I have anything against American-made motorcycles (heck, we even have a couple!), but the Triumph was a gift -- one I'll always cherish.
Since 2002 marks the 100th Anniversary of the Triumph, what better way to celebrate than go to a musuem to see how these great motorcycles have evolved over time.
We chose the Antique Motorcycle Museum which is located at Domi Racer in Cincinnati, OH. Domi Racer
With my struggle to obtain parts for my old Triumph, this business was like a God-send. It was founded in 1969 and is the best place to go for English and European motorcycle parts and accessories. (No, they're not paying me to say this).
At the museum, I learned the first Triumph was made in 1902 in Coventry, England, a short distance from where they're made today in Hinckley.
In addition to the motorcycles and scooters in the museum, some were actually for sale, like this 1970 1000cc model. ($12,500)
Some of the restorations were quite expensive as most are rarely seen outside of exhibits.
Combining a little business with pleasure, we had to pick up a few parts while at Domi Racer. The sales staff was unbelievably helpful and knowledgable.
Nearly everything on the exhibit shelves were for sale, including Lucas Altette horns, BSA Gold Star fenders, Dellorto carburetor parts, English and European fuel petcocks, English Taillight assemblies, you name it.
Domi Racer Distributors and Museum is located in Cincinnati, OH, and is well-worth the trip for those interested in antique European bikes. Check out the Domi Racer Website for details about store hours, etc.
